Losing baby weight can be tough. Hormones, exhaustion and other contributing factors make it difficult for new mothers to lose weight. Many mothers have tried to lose the weight but to no avail. Here are some ways in which you can lose weight after pregnancy.

Before you start any weight loss program, make sure you are comfortable! It comes much more naturally to move and exercise when you are comfortable. Wear clothes that are not too snug, and that allows you to move freely.

You also need to make sure you eat only healthy foods! It is important to maintain all the necessary nutrients. You want to be healthy for your new baby! Think of your diet in terms of balance. You need to even out your nutrients to make sure you cover all areas. If you need to, draw a picture of the food pyramid to refer to on a daily basis. Make sure that you are having the right amount of proteins, carbohydrates, and fat. Include in your weight loss diet lots fruits and vegetables. Also if necessary take a multivitamin.

Next and most importantly you need to do some exercise. When you go to exercise, you should take your baby! Pushing a baby stroller is a lot of work and tones very well. It may be more fun to include a friend and her little one, make it a social event. Before you know it you will have done double a full day’s workout just by walking and talking in the park. Weather not agreeable outside? Hit the mall with your posse.

Two areas of your body you may want to focus on are your thighs and your abs. Add crunches to your daily routine. Running in place can strengthen thighs and calves too. Lifting weights also will tone your upper arms. It will also strengthen you for when you need to hold your newborn.

Another area you will want to strengthen is your back. Back pain will sneak up on you after lifting your baby, car seats and more. One way to do that is Yoga. There are some specific positions that are suited to make your back muscles stronger.

You also need to make sure you think in real terms. Do not try to lose more than you originally put on before you had the baby. Only calculate what you put on during pregnancy. It will usually take about six months to lose the weight you tacked on. So do not expect to be perfect right away. Try not to overdo it. This will cause aches, pains and more grief than results.

When you start working on losing weight after pregnancy it is important that you be consistent with your nutrition and workouts. If you are not consistent then your weight loss will be nonexistent.
